Out There: Collaborative Project
Publication
2022
This project focused on documenting the journey of a professional artist through a carefully crafted publication and in-depth interview. The publication was designed to align with the artist’s unique aesthetic, incorporating a Japanese-inspired, futuristic, and retro visual theme. The cover featured the artist’s name in Japanese, complemented by a custom illustration created by the team to reflect their signature style. The publication itself was formatted to match the dimensions commonly used in the artist’s tattoo designs, with red thread binding to symbolize their signature color palette. The paper selection was carefully considered to enhance the overall tactile experience. The research and interview process spanned several weeks, involving extensive outreach to professionals in the field. After securing the interview, the team worked on refining the publication layout while awaiting the artist’s availability. The conversation provided valuable insights into the artist’s career transition, creative influences, and approach to design. Additional discussions with another industry professional, working within the same studio, further enriched the project. This project successfully captured the artist’s personal and professional journey, offering a deeper understanding of their creative evolution and artistic philosophy.
