Object De-Construct

Publication

2024

This project explores the theme of deconstruction through a unique visual narrative. A selection of a skull-shaped oil burner as the focal object, which was gradually destroyed over the course of the project. The process of deconstructing the object was captured in a series of powerful images, each one representing a different stage of its destruction. These images were then incorporated into a riso publication, with each page revealing a progressively shattered version of the skull. The back page of the publication creatively uses the broken pieces of the skull, arranged around the base of the paper to form a new skull shape. This symbolic reconstruction mirrors the deconstruction theme, blending childhood memories of creating shapes with sand and rocks into a contemporary artistic expression. The final design incorporates thoughtful adjustments, including threshold and noise effects, enhancing the visual impact of the overall layout. This project offers a striking commentary on transformation, the fragility of objects, and the beauty found in the breakdown of forms.
